In Wrentham, few races loom
Top Headlines That includes the board of selectmen, with longtime member John Zizza saying he probably won't run for a fourth three-year term. So far, only one race - for assessor - is on the horizon. Assessor Joan Dooley could be challenged by new resident Maggie Leavitt. Both have pulled papers. Leavitt had been an assessor in Norfolk. Dooley works in the Norfolk assessors' office. Joseph Botaish has returned papers for the board of selectmen. Selectman Edward Goddard is not running for a second term, and Zizza said he probably won't run for re-election. Zizza has served since April 2001. Other offices longing for candidates are a one-year unexpired term on the King Philip Regional School Committee left by the recent resignation of Margaret Billian, a four-year housing authority spot held by Nancy Grady, a three-year library trustee term held by Richard Steponaitis and a three-year constable position held by Edward Bettencourt. Previously, local school committee members Kim Carr and Eric Greenberg took out papers for one and three-year terms respectively. Town Moderator Keith Billian, housing authority member Marjorie Hooper for a five-year term, and Constable Stephen Hamlin have returned papers. Other incumbents who have pulled papers are planning board members Thomas Wrynn and Bob Cohen, who is also a selectman; board of health member Ravi Nadkarni, who has been on the board 15 years; Town Clerk Carol Mollica; and Constable Richard Gillespie. Coupled with the recent more public appearances of Mrs. Dunn at meetings, she could be thinking of running also. "
