Mansfield school incumbents to run

MANSFIELD - Two incumbent school committee members have taken out nomination papers for re-election, according to the town clerk's office.

Chairwoman Jean Miller and Vice Chairwoman Lisa Losiewicz have each taken out papers for a three-year term on the board.

A two-year seat on the committee, currently held by Jim Perry, will also be on the May 11 ballot.

Sharon Friedman, Plainville's longtime town moderator, has taken out papers to again run for the position in Mansfield.

She lost to longtime Mansfield moderator Robert Saquet by just 41 votes, or 2.5 percent of the ballots, last year. Daniel Connors, of Otis Street, has taken out papers for a five-year term on the town's housing authority. The seat is currently held by Beth Oberlander.

Two three-year terms on the board of selectmen are also up for grabs. They are seats currently held by Chairwoman Ann Baldwin and Sandra Levine.

Baldwin and Levine have not said publicly if they intend to run for reelection, but planning board member Douglas Annino and former selectwoman Dianne Royle have taken out nomination papers.

Nomination papers are available at the clerk's office in town hall. A prospective candidate must file the papers, signed by 50 registered voters, by March 23.

Those seeking a spot on the school committee must specify whether they are seeking a two- or three-year term.
