BOSTON - With just two individual titles, but multiple placements in six events, the Mansfield High boys' winter track team distanced itself from the flock of challengers at the Hockomock League Championship Track and Field Meeet Saturday at the Reggie Lewis Center.

With senior Dan Glavin (shot put) and senior Patrick Grimes (1,000) taking home individual titles, the Hornets claimed their eighth successive Hockomock League Meet championship.

Moreover, Mansfield took bonus points in the 300, 600, 1,000, mile and two mile runs, in addition to the shot put, the Hornets compiled 87 points to far outdistance runner-up Oliver Ames (58).

Glavin rewrote the Hockomock League Meet record with the shot put, heaving a throw of 57-3, bettering by nearly two feet the previous mark held by former teammate Mike McPherson. Glavin's toss beat Mike McPherson's record of 54-10 set last year, just nine inches off the MHS school record.

"He really wants the 60-foot barrier," Mansfield coach Julie Collins said. "He can taste it, we're all pulling for him."
Chris Fong and Shawn McCabe both launched personal best throws, both within a foot of each other, to add to the Hornets' weight luster, a 16-point take.

Grimes won the 1,000 at 2:38.67, while teammate Chris Harney was a second back for third place and six more points.

J.D. Chalifoux (300 meters), Patrick McGowan (two mile), Paul Davis (high jump) and the 4x400 meter relay team each took second.

**Nick Wade had a standout meet for NORTH ATTLEBORO, winning the 600 meters and coming from behind in the anchor leg of the 4x400 meters to give the Rocketeers the win.

Kevin Peter and Brian Courtney both threw 50-5 in the shotput to give North second and third in the event and a big 14 points for the meet.

**FOXBORO had just one placement, but that was a title from Brian Foley in the 300.

**The KING PHILIP Warriors held the lead through five events and settle for fourth place. Dave Connolly outfought a pair of Mansfield High Hornets to win the mile run with a personal best 4:35.1 second time and freshman Chris Allen clocked the fastest time by a rookie in the Commonwealth indoor season thus far at 4:37 for fourth place.

The Warriors also claimed 14 points in the 55 dash as seniors Brent Chapski and Chris Brennan went 2-3. Chapski, a favorite in the event, fell out of the blocks in the trials and was the No. 8 seed entering the finals.
