Former King Philip Warrior and Northeastern University shortstop Mike Lyon is off to a great start with the Staten Island Yankees, batting .313 through 10 games with just five strikeouts ... Former Mansfield High football standout Elmars Reks passes word along that his son Eriks, an Xaverian High grad last year, was named to the Duke University dean's list and had a terrific spring football camp. Red-shirted as a freshman, the 6-5, 230-pound Reks is being worked at defensive end ... Senior captain Brian Bettencourt finished as the leading point scorer for Bob Rukstalis' Norton High boys' spring track team, notably clocking an 11.2 in the 100 and a 23.2, good for sixth place at the MIAA Meet in the 200 ... North Attleboro's Katie Puccio, a freshman catcher for the Noble and Greenough School softball team, was a first team ISL selection - batting .479 with 23 hits and 19 RBI in 14 games. Puccio also lettered in field hockey and basketball ... Attleboro High freshman hoopster Nathan Robitaille made the Coastal 9-10th grade team for the Bay State Games next month ... At the Triggs Golf Course in Providence, Attleboro's native son Marc Forbes teamed with fellow Wannamoisett CC member Tom Goryl to win the R.I.
