ATTLEBORO -- Attleboro Lodge of Elks 1014's recent annual Youth Appreciation Night honored students aspiring to academic excellence and to making the community a better place to live by volunteering their time to help others.

Students were nominated by their schools and by the various organizations they represent.

Officials present awardsLocal and state dignitaries presented citations to each student following a dinner for the recipients and their families.

The presenters were Lisa Nelson, representing U.S. Rep. James McGovern, D-Worcester; state Sen. James Timilty, D-Walpole; Jason Sinclair, representing state Sen. Scott Brown, R-Wrentham; state Reps. Betty Poirier, R-North Attleboro and John Lepper, R-Attleboro.

Also: Attleboro City Council President Frank Cook; Ellie Wiseman of the Attleboro Emblem Club; Attleboro School Superintendent Pia Durkin; and Steve Cruff, exalted ruler, Attleboro Elks Lodge 1014. Event Co-Chairmen were Diane Tremblay, esteemed lecturing Knight, and Rocco Pardi, esteemed loyal Knight.
