CANTON - Wow! The North Attleboro High baseball team surrendered eight, second-inning runs and never could recover in being ambushed 15-10 by Canton in the Hockomock League game Thursday.
North, which had beaten the Bulldogs 11-4 earlier in the season, faced a 9-0 deficit after two innings and a 12-1 deficit after three frames.
And to think that North rallied for eight runs of its own in the fifth inning on five hits to narrow the gap to 12-9.
Canton used a half-dozen hits off North starting pitcher Greg Dusel in the second inning to take control.
The Rocketeers battled back in the fifth with senior leadoff batter Dan Rayburg belting a three-run triple, while Evan Dean, Nick Horton, Brett Mastropoll and Kevin Connolly each had an RBI-single.
North cut the gap to 12-10 in the sixth when Steve Sousa socked a solo homer with one out.
The Rocketeers (10-4) entertain Franklin Monday.

FOXBORO - The Eagles smacked four hits and plated four fourth inning runs and held off Foxboro to win the Hockomock League game. "We go in streaks," sighed Foxboro coach Glen Conlon, whose Warriors lost their second straight to fall to 7-7 overall.
Brian Swanton had two hits, while Nick Trasher crushed a three-run homer in the sixth inning to narrow the Warrior deficit to the final margin.
Alex Price singled in the sixth, but was stranded, then the Warriors were retired in order in the seventh.
Foxboro got on the scoreboard in the fourth as Price singled and eventually scored on a wild pitch. In the sixth, Joe Nixon was hit by a pitch and Swanton singled to set the stage for Thrasher's round-tripper. Foxboro visits Oliver Ames Monday.
