ATTLEBORO - The Bishop Feehan High baseball team paraded across the plate a half-dozen times over the first two innings as a result of wild pitches and passed balls and went on to score an amazing, 20-10 victory over Somerset Thursday in an Eastern Athletic Conference game at Beach Field.
The Shamrocks surrendered 10 runs to the Blue Raiders in the fourth inning and then erased a four-run deficit by scoring nine runs in the bottom of the fourth inning on five hits.
In that upsurge, Jim Marcotte drew a bases-loaded walk and Bill Karalis had an RBI-single.
The victory was the fifth straight for the Shamrocks, who gained a share of the EAC title with the win.
The Shamrocks (8-4, 6-0 EAC) didn't hit the ball out of the infield in the first frame, but had four runs. Ryan Lee reached base on an error and scored when Nick Linehan's ground ball was booted for the go-ahead run. In between, Matt Boulter drew a walk.
Then Somerset High lefthanded pitcher Andrew Desrosiers then uncorked three wild pitches that allowed Boulter, Linehan and Devin Cornetta (who drew one of three walks in the inning) to all score.
Similarly went the second inning for the Shamrocks. Lee drew a walk and Lucas Gagne stroked a single through the second base hole, both scoring on passed balls.
Lee finished with three hits, while Mike Guiliano, Gagne and Cornetta each had two hits. Righthander Sam Dodge started on the mound for Feehan, retiring the first 10 Blue Raiders that he faced. Jon Casali hurled two-plus innings of scoreless relief.
The Shamrocks are scheduled to return to action today, visiting crosstown rival Attleboro High.
