FRANKLIN - Midfielder Mike Foster scored three, third-period goals within a span of four minutes in sparking the Tri-County Regional High boys' lacrosse team to a 12-5 victory over Greater New Bedford Voke Thursday.
Tri-County held merely a 3-2 halftime lead before outscoring the Bears 6-0 in the third 12-minute session.
"Our midfield played great," said Cougar coach Matt Murphy, citing the scoring of Foster and the faceoff work by Andrew Gregg.
Mike Cavanaugh netted three goals and had two assists for the Cougars, while Brendan Clist scored twice and set up three goals. Also Jake Crowley had a pair of goals, while Scott Gilbert and Chris Coffey (two assists) each had one goal.
Jamie McLaughlin totaled 24 saves in goal for Tri-County (8-3), which moved within a victory of qualifying for the MIAA Tournament. The Cougars visit Blue Hills Regional Monday.
Bridgewater-Raynham 14, Bishop Feehan 10
ATTLEBORO - The Bridgewater-Raynham High girls' lacrosse team netted eight second half goals and came away from Horton Field with a 14-10 victory over Bishop Feehan. "We may be winless (0-6), but we're making progress, we're getting better every time out," said Feehan coach Nancy Semple.
Cori Semple scored five goals and set up two others for the Shamrocks, who trailed 6-4 at intermission. Meghan Leavey and Ashley Rainha each scored twice for Feehan, while Samantha Mason had a single tally.
Caitlin Douglas tended goal during the first half, making four saves, while Jamie Coyne took over in the second half and made eight saves.
Feehan takes on Fairhaven today and Bay View Academy Saturday.
