NOTESTER: Explore coastal vineyards May 10




The seven vineyards along the Coastal Wine trail are gathering at Westport Rivers Vineyard in Westport on Saturday, May 10, to kick off the season.

The tasting runs 1 to 3 and tickets are 35 bucks.

There will also be local artisan cheeses to sample, gourmet chocolate and a cash raw bar. (westportrivers.com and 508.636.3423.x2)

The beef course is balsamic filet topped with carmelized glazed onions and the fish course is grilled ahi tuna topped with sauteed cherry tomatoes, calamata olives, garlic and caper berries at the five-course Italian wine dinner Thursday, May 22, at the Col. Blackinton Inn on North Main Street in Attleboro. It starts at 6:30 and costs 70 bucks. Other courses include beef carpaccio, gorgonzola and fig salad with raspberry vinaigrette and mixed Italian cheeses with Roman hazelnuts and honey. Oh, and tell them Andy sent you when you book. They're having a Broadway-style revue and a brunch Sunday, May 11, at the Roseland Ballroom Dinner Theater on Broadway in Taunton. It's 40 bucks. Seating is at 11:30, the show starts at 1. (508.828.9189) Grilled lamb lollipops and shrimp-and-asparagus Beggars Purses highlight the spring wine dinner menu Monday at Cattails City Grill on Waterman Avenue in East Povidence. On Monday Chef Jody Adams features four of her favorite women winemakers, three from France and one from Argentina, for a sommelier dinner at Rialto in Boston. The four - Diane de Puymorin from Chateau d'Or et de Gueules, Nathalie Blanc from Mas Carlot, Sylvia Cornut from Mas Guiot and Carolina Furque from Furque - will offer their best winemaking stories as well as their best bottles paired with four courses prepared by Adams and her Rialto team. The Attleboro Area Council of Churches' first Kitchen Cook-off Taste Testing is at 7 Wednesday at the St. John the Evangelist Church Hospitality Center behind the church on North Main Street. It will raise money for Food 'n' Friends Soup Kitchen. (508.222.2933)

The Chieftain Pub, Fitzy's Pub, LA Roberts, the Colonel Blackinton Inn, Fresh Catch, J&M Sports Pub, Jeneration's Pub, Pan City Grille, Tom's Tavern and Leona's are competing in the Hockomock Area Y's second annual "Wing-Off" event Saturday, May 3, 3 to 9 at the North Attleboro Elks on Bullfinch Road in North. The competition runs 3 to 5, there will be live music from four local bands and tickets are 25 bucks. Proceeds benefit the Reach Out for Youth and Families campaign. Lobsters and 11 bucks, two for 21 bucks, at the Fresh Catch restaurants in Attleboro, Mansfield and North Easton.

Tom's Tavern, which now operates in two locations, Shears Street in Wrentham and Normandy Farms Campground in Foxboro, is running beef specials in addition to its extensive seafood menu. The Museum of Fine Arts in Boston on Sunday offers a prix fixe brunch menu 11:30 to 3 at its restaurant, Bravo. You can choose two courses for 29 bucks, three for 34 bucks. On Monday, 5:30 to -8:30, they have a three-course dinner menu for 50 bucks. The events are tied to the museum's newest exhibit, Art in Bloom. (617.369.3474)

You can get two entrees, soup, salad and dessert, and a glass of wine or beer each, for 28 bucks at the East Side Checker Club on Benefit Street in Pawtucket every Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday starting this week. (401.726.9266)

They're getting spooky in Chepachet. The Tavern on Main on Putnam Pike is having a Haunted Dinner 6:30 Tuesday, May 13, with Tom D'Agostino, paranormal investigator and author of "Haunted Rhode Island." After dinner there will be an interactive paranormal investigation and a question-and-answer period. It's 45 bucks. (401.710.9788)

Sel de la Terre Natick in Natick has launched Sourdough Sundays, a seasonal a la carte menu showcasing their award-winning breads. The menu changes weekly and is served 4 to 10. Look for panzanella salad made with crusty sourdough, ripe tomatoes, mozzarella cheese, cucumber, red onion, capers, and basil, and oven-roasted free range chicken with andouille, sage and country sourdough stuffing. The Nat Porter Restaurant on Water Street in Warren is hosting a five-course wine dinner 6:30 to 9 Monday. It's 68 bucks. (401.289.0373)
