Two women hurt after car hits city utility pole

ATTLEBORO - Two young women were injured when a compact car they were in clipped a utility pole in half on South Main Street early Saturday morning.
The victims, who were believed to be in their late teens, suffered non-life-threatening injuries, and were taken to Rhode Island Hospital's trauma center in Providence.
The accident was reported about 12:05 a.m. in the area of 330-340 South Main, which was dark and wet at the time.
A lengthy section of the main road was closed and National Grid was summoned to replace the pole. The car sustained heavy front-end damage.
No further information was available on Saturday from Attleboro police.
